NIPP Transformers Boost Electricity Company Revenue By 20%

Mr Oladele Amoda, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Eko Electricity Distribution Company, on Friday said the firm's revenue has increased by 20 per cent since the inauguration of some NIPP transformers.

Amoda, CEO of one of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) companies, said that the recently inaugurated National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) transformers in the zone would further boost power supply.

He, however, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the zone stilled required more transformers to impact positively on his company’s revenue base.

Amoda said that with adequate energy supply from the grid to complement the NIPP projects, the customers would enjoy stable power supply.

NAN recalls that five 1/15 MVA transformers were installed in areas under the Eko Electricity Distribution Company on April 18.

The areas included injector sub-stations at Ojo, Mushin, Yaba, Ijora and Isolo.

``Most of the obsolete switch gears and bad equipment in the injector sub-stations have been replaced to boost supply to customers.

``With this new equipment, the era of low shedding in my network will be over.  The transformers will fizzle out the epileptic power supply.''

Amoda told NAN that one of the sub-stations could serve about 10,000 residents of the communities under its jurisdiction.

``NIPP project is a team in government’s drive to achieve desired results in the power sector.``

The chief executive said that about 27 other transformers were needed to work with some existing overloaded ones to achieve regular supply of electricity to residents. (NAN)
